Experience
Kayla M. Johnson, a founding partner of Smith & Johnson, attended Hamline University, and graduated magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then attended Hamline University School of Law and graduated magna cum laude in 2008. Kayla grew up outside of Slayton, Minnesota, and always knew she would return to her hometown area to practice law. Her practice focused on real estate law and estate planning. She left the firm in March 2025 when she was appointed to the bench in Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District by Governor Tim Walz. She is currently chambered in Pipestone and Rock Counties.
